MAZ will introduce a 12-speed robotic gearbox Trakson 12TX2210TD on a fifth-wheel truck MAZ-544028 with Weichai WP12 engine with a capacity of 430 "horses". The prototype will be assembled in autumn 2019. This was told in Minsk at the roadshow and truck exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of cooperation between MAZ and the German concern ZF.
The design services have already developed documentation for the new truck. After the assembly and testing of prototypes which will be conducted in cooperation between MAZ and ZF there will come a turn of serial launch.
ZF Group supplies MAZ with manual and automatic transmissions for trucks and passenger vehicles as well as portal axles, transfer cases and steering gears. Over 30 years of cooperation the Belarusian truck and bus producer used more than 55 thousand units of ZF.
At the moment almost every produced MAZ vehicle is equipped with ZF gearboxes, while the top models are equipped with units of ZF production only.
In 2014 MAZ and ZF signed a strategic cooperation agreement. In particular, the Belarusian plant acts as a service partner of the German concern.
Cooperation between the two companies once helped in the development of low-floor buses. It is not surprising that city buses which were delivered to Minsk for the II European Games are also equipped with ZF units.
ZF gearboxes and transfer boxes are also installed in sports trucks MAZ-SPORTAUTO competing during rally raids. The crews won the Turkmen Desert Race and Morocco Desert Challenge and also took the second place at the Dakar 2018 rally raid.
"Over the 30 years of cooperation MAZ and ZF have reached a high level of relationship that goes far beyond the traditional supply of units. Our specialists work together to develop new solutions and look for know-how regarding the use of ZF gear boxes in MAZ trucks and buses. Many of them are among the first to be introduced. This partnership not only increases the efficiency of our work, but also provides technological leadership to both companies," said MAZ representatives.
MAZ and ZF Group organized an exhibition and test drive of the vehicles at the Lipki test track area to mark the 30th anniversary of their cooperation. The participants could test MAZ-5440Y9 and MAZ-5440E9 fifth-wheel trucks, MAZ-5309M4 all-wheel drive truck and MAZ-6502C9 all-wheel drive dump truck.
