Belarusian crews completed the Silk Road rally in the TOP ten. Our drivers overcame the last stage at high speed and without incidents, taking the third and fourth places.
The last 255 km of special sections passed through canyons and mountain plateaus, after which the crews went to the flat terrain. Most of the route ran along fast winding sections, which MAZ trucks passed without any difficulties.
Aleksandr Vasilevsky MAZ truck showed the fourth time at the stage, and in the overall standings took the sixth place with a delay of 5 hours and 17 minutes. The first three lines were taken by Russian crews, and Anton Shibalov became the champion of the marathon. Alexey Vishnevsky finished the third in the last stage. His crew took the eighth place in the "absolute".
The Belarusians were in the lead on the "Silk Way Rally" most of the race. The hood MAZ under Sergey Viazovich headed the table with a solid lead until the beginning of the eighth stage, forcing KamAZ and other crews to be nervous and make mistakes. The Belarusians scored four wins in the stages.
Sergei Viazovich also failed when he climbed the dune in the Gobi desert. The hood truck at high speed conquered the sand slide and flew off the "springboard," after which it flipped over, stood up on the wheels and even continued to drive. But the impact and damage were too severe to continue safely. The crew made a tough decision to get out of the race and, despite the noticeable leadership, was forced to give the victory to the rivals.
At the same time, the race can be called a landmark one for MAZ-SPORTauto - Belarusians imposed a fight to the multiple champions at the international rally.
The Silk Way Rally-raid took place from 6 to 16 July in Russia, China and Mongolia. The race started in Irkutsk and finished in Dunhuang. The track consisted of high-speed sections in Eastern Siberia, Mongolian steppes, Chinese plains and sandy sections with dunes in the Gobi desert. The route of the marathon was 5 thousand km, half of which was for the special sections.
