Belarusian crews took first places at the sixth stage of the Morocco Desert Challenge rally.
Alexey Vishnevsky won the race, and Sergey Vyazovich increased the gap from other competitors in the overall standings.
The sixth rally race included 324 kilometers of special area. The riders overcame the sands, dunes and canyons. Even before the start of the stage, the Belarusians decided to force the pace in the sands, and the tactics worked: the “red bisons” overcame the special stages without breakdowns and left the rivals far behind.
The fastest on the stage was Aleksey Vishnevsky, who overcame the route in 4 hours and 50 minutes. Two minutes more this route took for another MAZ truck driven by Sergey Vyazovich. Peter Versluis finished in third place with a 15-minute lag.
Sergei Vyazovich is the first in the general ranking . His hood MAZ comes with a 30-minute separation from the nearest pursuer - the Dutchman Roland Foerman on the MAN truck. Alexey Vishnevsky is also in the top five with his 45 minutes from the best time.
“We drove with all the might at the highest possible pace. Mostly wrong in navigation, as we were ahead of all. At some point, we caught up with the crew of Alexei Vishnevsky, and we almost got to the finish line one after another. There were no problems with the dunes - on the contrary, it was in these areas that we increased the handicap, - said the head of the team Sergey Vyazovich. - During the race, the MAZ hood truck showed itself perfectly. We 're pleasantly surprised how the truck can withstand the strongest burden. To make it clearer, I’ll give an example: the seat was torn off from the floor because of the vibrations, but the truck itself didn't got any damages.”
The seventh day promises to be one of the most intense. The length of the special stage will exceed 400 km, and most of it will go through places with huge dunes. Then the racers will be met by highways, but there will be many barriers on them.
