At the jubilee marathon "Dakar" a conflict flared up unexpectedly with the participation of Belarusian racers. The leader of the team Sergey Vyazovich was accused of damaging the Toyota sports car and even was discharged for 20 minutes of penalty time. As it turned out, the SUV "hid" under the dune, did not turn on the "emergency" light and found itself in a zone almost invisible to the truck.
A mysterious incident occurred at the fourth stage in the vicinity of the Peruvian city of San Juan de Marcona. Sergei Vyazovich's MAZ, rushing along the dunes, caught up with two trucks, one of which turned over on a large sandy hill. The Belarusians were preparing to overtake the second crew, approached him a short distance, but he could not climb onto the dune and hurried back than blocked the way to the others. MAZ rider had no choice but to go down with him - and at that moment they touched the back of the "stiff" car stuck in the sands.
"Going back, we did not notice that there is Toyota - the guys broke down and did not even turn on the alarm. As we pulled back, we looked forward to the Scania truck 10 meters away, so as not to rush into it, but accidentally hit Toyota while the crew under the hood was repairing something. Touch was light, insignificant - after five minutes they wound up and left, but apparently they held the insult, "says Sergey Vyazovich.
A trivial case would have faded into the sands of the Dakar if the SUV pilot had not written a complaint to the organizers of the race. Those, in their turn, reviewed the statement and, without thinking twice, fined the Belarusian crew for 20 minutes, which are so important in the fight for third place. However, the leader of the team "MAZ-SPORTvto" Sergei Vyazovich does not lose hope to restore justice and expects the final decision of the judges.
"They wrote a complaint against us that we deliberately damaged their car. Although it's funny! But the judges fined us to 20 minutes and 300 euros, "complains the head of the team. - Now we filed a protest, presented a video from the cameras of the truck, so in the next few days, I think, this decision will be contested. For some reason we were very biased towards: we provided the video, whereas the Toyota crew showed only a photo of the crumpled trunk lid. But we believe that the situation will be sorted out, and time will be returned to us. "
