MAZsportauto racers successfully overcame the rally-raid "Silk Way-2017", which became the longest race in the world. All three crews were in the top ten, and the leader of the team Sergey Viazovich took the honorable fifth place - one of the best in the history of the Belarusian motor sport, was told in "MAZ-SPORTavto”.
The current marathon turned out to be not only a record for the length of the special stages (around 4 thousand km), but also one of the most difficult and exhausting rally-raids of recent years. In terms of complexity, the Silk Way is comparable to the world-famous Dakar. The world best pilots had been fighting for the prize positions. The race was intense and unpredictable: some special stages were reduced because of the weather whims, and the last stage was even canceled due to the torrential rains.
For Belarusians, the rally-raid appeared to be relatively successful. MAZ racers confidently started in the first races and even won at one stage. However, soon they faced with troubles - from technical problems with imported parts to unsuccessful falls. At some point, the riders flew out of the top ten, but in the second part of the path they compensated lost time and finished in the "absolute" among the strongest crews. Sergey Vyazovich was the best among the Belarusians. His truck finished the race in fifth place. From the first results his crew was separated almost by 6 hours and 29 minutes.
The champion is the Russian pilot Dmitry Sotnikov, who led the most part of the race. Behind him there are two more KAMAZ crews - Anton Shibalov’s and Ayrat Mardeev’s. Ahead of the Belarusians is also the Kazakh pilot Arthur Ardavichus on Iveco.
Alexei Vishnevsky’s crew completed the marathon on the seventh line. From the winner of the rally, he lagged behind for about 10 hours. Alexander Vasilevsky’s crew finished the race at the eighth position. They lost 10 hours and 37 minutes to the Russian winner.
"Rally-raid became a serious test as for the pilots so for the equipment. The track was even more difficult than we expected. Severe conditions occurred practically at every stage, and after some races we have strengths only enough to have a snack and for wash. At the same time, the Belarusian team managed to show one of the best results. MAZ trucks proved to be reliable, hardy and unpretentious vehicles. Now no one has any doubts in this, was emphasized by MAZ-SPORTauto.
The rally-raid "Silk Way-2017" passed through the territories of Russia, Kazakhstan and China. The length of the distance was over 9 thousand km, 4 thousand of which fell to the special stages. Among the trials there were the endless plains, dangerous mountain serpentines, treacherous sands and huge dunes. The riders faced many of these obstacles for the first time.
