DAKAR COMPETITORS HAVE TO GO THROUGH SCRUTINEERING

Drivers and riders taking part in the Dakar have to go through their first checkpoint before the race has even started. And, just like in the rally, there is a time limit. With almost four hundred competitors expected to go through administrative and technical scrutineering, it is necessary to keep moving. That's why each competitor is given a certain amount of time to complete the administrative checks and go to the technical checks with his or her vehicle. It didn't use to be like this, but according to the experience of last years there was a traffic jam at the end of the day. Administrative scrutineering spans of a series of steps, ranging from validating sports licences to conducting medical check-ups and issuing practical information. Medical check-ups can take longer than other steps, because it is necessary to take every precaution, so thek competitors are asked to fill in a comprehensive form to find out about their medical history and, when necessary, their treatments. Nothing can be left without attention when an emergency happens.
