On November 17, 2014 the press conference devoted to the forthcoming participation of MAZ SportAuto team in a rally-raid “Dakar 2015” took place at Minsk automobile plant .
Fighting cars and technical maintenance cars were presented to the journalists. These cars in several hours will go to the French port Havre and then after technical inspections will be sent to Latin America.
The press conference took place with the assistance of the First Deputy General Director of JSC “MAZ” Valery Ivankovich, MAZ SportAuto team curator Dmitry Korotkevich, MAZ SportAuto team chief Valery Kozlowski and pilots Sergey Vyazovich, Alexander Vasilevsky and Alexander Polishchuk.
Team members told about new technical solutions applied on cars, and also shared their expectations concerning the forthcoming race.
Many words of gratitude were told to the companies which are the partners of the team at the forthcoming race. Among them are JSC “Gazprom Neft — Lubricants”, JSC Promagroleasing, JSC “Alfa-Bank”, “Beleksimgarant”, “Telen” company. This is going to be already the fourth racing season provided by mobile operator VELCOM high-quality communication.
All team members will leave to Buenos Aires at the end of December.
«DAKAR 2015» will take start on January 4, 2015 in Argentina capital.
This time the Belarusian team will be presented by three crews:
Crew no. 1:
pilot– Alexander Vasilevsky;
navigator – Valery Kozlowsky;
mechanic– Anton Zaporoshchenko.
Crew no. 2:
pilot– Sergey Vyazovich;
navigator – Pavel Garanin;
mechanic– Andrey Zhigulin
pilot – Alexander Polischchuk;
navigator– Dmitry Vihrenko;
mechanic – Alexey Neverovich.
MAZ SportAuto team is the only team, presenting Republic of Belarus at the competition s of such level in the “Truck” class. The opponents for MAZ fighting cars will be crews on cars of such famous world trade marks such as DAF, GINAF, Hino, IVECO, КАМАЗ, LIAZ, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault , Scania, Tatra, Unimog and other.
During the whole training season the team had implemented and tested new technical decisions, directed on the following decreasing of race cars mass. The so-called chandelier from 6 headlights on the bullbar had been replaced by new especially light-weight lamp-sets. An aluminum tank had been installed, front spring fixing bracket configuration had been changed, a new noticeably light-weighted driver shaft had been used in cars. Plastic parts had also been modernized. Particularly, front wings shape had been optimized and modified. That’s allowed to lose several more kilos. Thus this measure complex allowed lightening of a fighting bolide for more than 100 kilos.
A full measure complex directed on the race trucks reliability was realized. The transfer gear-box fixing technology had been changed. Now it is possible to implement its full technical service only in several hours. All sets of special race shock-absorbers now are interchangeable.
MAZ partner Yaroslavl Motor Plant had made a great work concerning the adjusting and tuning of race trucks engines. Thanks to the measure complex and fine adjustments of fuel gears the power of Sergey Vyazovich’s leader bolide is increased up to 920 horse powers.
«Dakar 2015» will be the fourth for Belarusians. Starting from the first year of participation in the prestigious rally, our sportsmen have been successfully competing with world-famous racers, improving their result from year to year. Thus, for instance, at the last rally raid MAZ Sport Auto team showed an excellent result, while being very close to the top 10 leaders. Sergey Vyazovich’s crew took the 11th place on the total 13 race laps. The second crew of Belarusian team took the 31th place in general classification of “Trucks” category. Besides, to get to the finish is not possible for all — only 50 crews from 71 at start managed to get to the last lap at the last race.
“We are confident in ourselves and in our machinery. The experience we got at the former competitions allows us to fight for the higher result “, – tells team leader Valery Kozlowski .

Now we only have to wish good luck to our sportsmen, because they need it so much at this unpredictable race.
Rally-race «DAKAR» (for many years it was known as «Rally Paris — Dakar») – is an annual transcontinental rally-race, that takes its beginning from 1978. Professional sportsmen (plant teams) participate in race along with amateurs (their number is about 80%). Differently from the classical rally, the competition at Dakar takes place in the beginning of the year and end with the arrival at the finish point. All the distance is broken into several laps. The winner is the crew which overcomes the distance in the minimum time. Besides rally cars competitions there are also contest for bikes, quad bikes and trucks where the winner for each round is revealed.
