After returning from the rally-raid “Silk road” which took place on the route Moscow – Sochi from July 10 to 16, our team “MAZ-SPORTauto” gave a final press conference:
— We are proud of the results that the team has shown this year, they surpassed the set objectives,- Valery Kozlovky said.
Recall, 47 percent crews finished from 156 declared. One of the Belorussian crew took 35th place, the second – 64th. “I think it’s respectable place, because this crew is very young, it’s a debut in rally racing.
As for the results in the trucks category, we recall that Belarusian crew won the 18th place, the second – 23rd. “I think it's also a good result,” — says the team leader. He says that team brought a Cup from the “Silk road” for first place in the subgroup of T4. Our technics not only can arrive to the finish line it can adequately compete with the world leaders in the rally-raids. It can also win”. About negative side the team leader did not say anything, but noted: “MAZ-SPORTauto” team has a big perspectives, because it created only a year ago”.
The “Silk Road” was the final competition in this year for the team “MAZ-SPORTauto”. Now is time to prepare for participation in the Dakar, which will be held in South America, January 1, 2012. “Having good experience in the competition this year we know what we need to work. We have time to approach the modification of equipment”, — said Kozlovsky.
- There is a rumor that you have time to prepare for the “Dakar” only one car, — we asked Valery.
- No, we’re going to participate with two cars. I think we will prepare our technics for the Dakar. We prepare technics less than a year, other people prepare it for decades and it brakes.
- Training for Dakar will be in Belarus?
- I think so, although we have an offer from Turkmenistan, but we haven’t clear answer, it will depends from our technics preparing. From the experience of participating in competitions in Astrakhan and in the “Silk Road” I can say that cars feel worthily in the sands and dunes.
