MAZ AMONG THE LEADERS OF "DAKAR"

 "MAZ-SPORT Auto" team has successfully passed the sixth stage of the anniversary rally-raid "Dakar-2018". The crew of Sergey Vyazovich on the track overtook KAMAZ Ayrat Mardeev and showed the seventh time at the finish, keeping the third position in the overall standings.

The sixth stage included two high-speed sections in different countries - Peru and Bolivia. For the first time at the current "Dakar" the riders had to face mountain segments. At the same time, the top ten crews drove the route at a high pace and with a slight gap from each other.


"Both stages were at an altitude of 4000 meters above sea level. Sergei Vyazovich was among the first and went around the crew of Ayrat Mardeev on the first stretch. At the same time, he did not risk much: it was important to stay in the top three of the general classification and not lose time to the crews that follow. The main task is to keep rivals in the distance to feel safe. - The highlight of the stage was the ending in the dark along a narrow road with rills. In general, there was a rather dangerous adventure. "

Sergei Vyazovich spent 3 hours 28 minutes on the track, finishing seventh. The winner of the stage was Argentina's Federico Villagra, to whom the Belarusians lost 6 minutes. In the "absolute" MAZ crew occupies the third line and loses to the race leader - the Russian Eduard Nikolayev - 2 hours 24 minutes.

Alexei Vishnevsky confidently passed the stage. In the general standings the crew is on the 18th position.

Alexander Vasilevsky completed the sixth rally-stage in the 21st place, spending more than 5 hours on the route and "giving" the leader 1 hour 45 minutes. In the general classification, the crew occupies the 15th line with a gap of 11 hours and 10 minutes.

After the sixth stage of the riders expect a deserved rest day, which they will hold in La Paz. This time can be spent on truck repairs and preparation for the subsequent rally-races. The seventh stage will lead the crews to the Bolivian city of Uyuni. The length of the special stage, which will take place in the mountainous terrain, will make  impressive 369 km.
